Repeat Prescriptions
All requests for repeat prescriptions and medications must be submitted in writing, either in person, through a local pharmacy, by post, or using our online services. We cannot take repeat prescriptions over the phone. Please do not ask for repeat prescriptions during consultations with clinicians as time does not permit this to happen. Repeat prescriptions take a minimum of 2 working days to be processed; this does not include weekends or bank holidays.
If you are on regular medication you will be given a prescription counterfoil. Please use this to tick off which items are needed, and for writing any messages about your prescription requirements.
Alternatively, you can order online via the 'Online Services' tab of this website.
Please do not phone the surgery for a repeat prescription, as we cannot accept repeat prescription requests over the phone.
Collections
Because of the number of requests we have to process daily, we request at least 2 working days’ notice, and please allow longer if it is sent by post or via a pharmacy.
If you give us a stamped, addressed envelope, we can post your prescription to you. We can also arrange for it to go to the pharmacy of your choice, if it operates a collection service. Please indicate which pharmacy each time you request a prescription.
Some pharmacies will also deliver your medication to you. If this service is required, please arrange this with your respective pharmacy directly.
Please check your stock of medication and only ask for the items you need, to avoid any wastage. Wasted medication costs the NHS millions of pounds each year – money which could have been spent on other services.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a clinician at least once a year to review regular medications, and a notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appointment in advance to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
