Repeat Prescriptions
All requests for repeat prescriptions and medications must be submitted in writing, either in person, through a local pharmacy, by post, or using our online service. We cannot take repeat prescriptions over the telephone. Please do not ask for repeat prescriptions during consultations with clinicians as time does not permit this to happen. Repeat prescriptions take a minimum of 2 working days to be processed; this does not include weekends or bank holidays.
If you are on regular medication you will be given a prescription counterfoil. Please use this to tick off which items are needed, and for writing any messages about your prescription requirements.
Alternatively you can order online via the link at the top of this page. New users are required to complete a simple registration. Please see a receptionist who will generate a ‘registration token’ for you to log on to Vision Online Services.
Please do not telephone for a repeat prescription as the telephone lines need to be kept free for emergency calls and appointment requests.
Collections
Because of the number we have to process daily, we require at least 3 working days’ notice, and please allow longer if it is sent by post or via a pharmacy. If you give us a stamped, addressed envelope, we can post your prescription to you. We can also arrange for it to go to the pharmacy of your choice, if it operates a collection service. Please indicate which pharmacy each time you request a prescription. Some pharmacies will also deliver your medication to you. If this service is required, you should make arrangements with the pharmacy direct.
Please check your stock of medication and only ask for the items you need, to avoid any wastage. Wasted medication costs the NHS millions of pounds each year – money which could have been spent on other services.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
